Meet Our Staff
Pastor John came to Melwood in August of 1994. Prior to that he was Associate Pastor for Worship and Lay Development at St. Paul's Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, MO. Pastor John is a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College (B.A. in Religion) and Nazarene Theological Seminary (M. Div.). He and his wife Amy have a passion for ministry, for worship and for people. They have three daughters; Bethany, Kathryn and Jenna.
Janet Johnson came on staff in 1999. She oversees the many Christian Education ministries of the church including Sunday School and our Day Care Center. She also coordinates Melwood Nazarene Academy, our Home School Umbrella Program. She is married to Chuck and has five children. Youth Pastor - Henry Sweeney Pastor Henry, currently serves as our Youth Pastor, and is another valuable member of our ministry team. He is also a part of our teaching team. He is married to Pastor Amber and has two children, Elizabetha dn William. Children's Pastor - AmberSweeney Pastor Amber, currently serves as our Children's Pastor, and is another valuable member of our ministry team. She is married to Pastor Henry and has two children, Elizabetha dn William. Administrative Assistant - Valerie Mitchell Valerie began working in the office in 2004 and serves as Church Office Administrator and Administrative Assistant to Pastor John. She and her husband, Everett live in Bowie, MD and have one grown son, Eric. |
